Video "How to" Lessons

At Maap Elementary School in Yap, teachers created mini-lessons using video. They chose the theme of "Our Garden" and filmed several aspects of food collection and preparation.

In this Video How To Lesson, teachers Jerome shows how fish is cooked. Notice the close up shots and clear narration. These lessons can be 'chunked' into short videos to foster discussion amongst students.

Maap Elementary School principal Naz Gaanagred creates his own video mini-lesson on husking coconuts. Watch how Naz's explanations are followed by the camera. The cameraperson comes in closer to his hands at times and draws back to get a full shot of Naz at times.

Video How To Lessons can be easy to create and require minimal editing. If each lesson is a small standalone piece, the footage can be brought into iMovie and compressed without any editing necessary.
