Our Team:

Each summer Martha teaches technology at Reach Camp, a day camp for children with autism in Honoka`a on the Island of Hawai`i. Kids come from all over the eastern coast, from Waimea to Hilo. Susan Wood and Susan Carey organize a wonderful welcoming environment for the kids and provide hands on training and experience for therapeutic aides.

Our Projects:

Reach Camp

We use Mavica digital still cameras and Mac or PC computers. This year the kids spent a day taking still pictures. A select team used these pictures to create an iMovie, adding music and transitions. The whole camp watched the movie the next morning. Besides being fun to watch it helps the campers remember what occurred the previous day and provides a tie-in and continuity to the upcoming day's events. The campers also used their pictures to create journals in Powerpoint of the previous day's activities. Here is an example of a journal.
