me ke aloha.
Ke Kula 'O Samuel M. Kamakau is a Hawaiian language immersion school
located
in Kane'ohe on the island of O'ahu. Some of the teachers there have expressed
interest in some of the Pacific Voices strategies therefore, Malia went
to work with Kumu Kehau Pe'a and the 2nd and 3rd grade class. The school
has a Macintosh lab on their campus as well as access to a few mini DV
and digital cameras. |

| Kumu Kehau wanted her students to learn to use iMovie and document the work that they were doing at He'e'ia fishpond. She also wanted to explore iMovie as an assessment tool. Malia and Lillian went with the students to He'e'ia fishpond and videotaped and took still images of their experience at the fishpond. The students learned about 4 different types of fishes, the parts of the fish both inside and outside, they got to clean the fish, cook it, and eat it. Malia put together a contact sheet with thumbnails and each group of 2 students got to choose 10 pictures. They learned to storyboard, import the images, record their voice, lengthen the picture to match the voice, lock audio clip, add titles, add transitions, and export to camera. It took us a few 1 hour class periods to finish the project but we finished it and we shared it with the parents and guests from the island of Ni'ihau. 'Eleu ho'i 'oukou e ka papa 2 me 3!!! | ||
