Our Team:

We have worked with Louise Cayetano for 3 years of the project. We started in the 6th grade, moved to 5th grade, then back to 6th. An experienced teacher, she has brought ideas and depth to the project. Fern has many immigrant families that use English as their second language. We try to create ties with the islands we visit during our team travels. Martha's major project this year was to help the class make connections with pictures and language. Martha invited Dr. Lori Phillips to show us how to draw pictures with pastel crayons and write descriptive sentences about them. We scanned the pictures and show some here for your enjoyment.

The air was acting up to the lake, so the grass said in a meanful manner, “Stop making trouble to the lake or else, you won’t have any friends.”

The enormous waves thundered toward shore like a violent tornado on a sandy dessert destroying the land.

The waves are so waving that is makes the ocean bubbling the bounding.

The stunning mountains thoughtful and wise, murmur their secrets with the peaceful skies.
